Story and Motivation – Artist Madhuri

I am a self taught artist and Maddy_een_Art business is a result of my quest for being a self reliant, independent woman.

Economic progress is tightly knitted in basic fabric of human nature. Being raised in a nuclear hardworking family, it was all the more evident to me. Though I come from a well-to-do family, I have always seen my parents engaged in a constant endeavor of achieving progress. While they succeeded in their pursuit but perhaps their industriousness achieved something as precious as pure gold – DNA of being financially INDEPENDENT!

DNA was perhaps always there, but it kept manifesting and invigorating itself through their various walks of life. It received a boost when my father lost my grandfather at an early age, gained strength when my father had to move out from joint family for an economic pursuit…and kept getting stronger and stronger while fulfilling every wish of her little angel – me!!!

My mother was not behind, she was right up there. It was evident in multiple small ventures she used to operate from home while supporting the family. Be it a small stitching business or a soft toy business or a trading business or currently – an ornament business, she has always been a mark of an industrious, multi-tasker and responsible woman! There was one common thread that kept fueling her ambition to take-up new ventures – DNA of being financially INDEPENDENT!

I carry the same DNA!

I am married in a family that is loving, caring, respectful of my identity and freedom, supportive of my career choices and is well-to-do. I probably don’t need to earn to make a living.

But….I carry the same DNA which keeps manifesting itself and wont let me rest. I believe that achieving economic progress, attainment of self-reliance and independence should not only be the onus of the head of the family. It is a journey, a pursuit of happiness that goes on and on. I will keep pursuing it till I become a self-reliant, independent woman! With this motivation I decided to pursue my hobby in art as a profession and thus Maddy_een_Art was born. I am fully resolved and committed to make this a success.

I consider myself fortunate as I am well supported by parents, in-laws and my spouse. However, there may be many other artists who may not be as privileged as I am. Many people are gifted, many are well-trained artists but many of them are not able to take it up professionally as they may not be aware about the commercial aspects of an art business.

This blog is my little attempt to share my journey and learnings from this fledgling business to be helpful to budding artists, give them the confidence to build their business and make them a part of my journey. I will be sharing how I am approaching this business along with some tips and tricks around paintings. I would also be happy to exchange ideas and learn from artists and professionals out there. I am no expert at any of these, but fully committed to it and confident that with a nice blog community we all can succeed together.
